Pat designed this to help you sharpen spokeshave blades which can be a challenge due to their shortness. The original jig was made from stainless steel but you can easily make it in your woodworking shop using aluminum and commonly available fixings you can source online or at various hardware stores. Vic bets that you can make it from high-quality plywood but that's never been tested. 

Vic has used it and he's a total fan (of Pat and his Jig)! He uses it with his Tormek but there is no reason why you couldn't use it with a sharpening jig (or by hand if that's your jam) and whatever stones or sharpening media you use. Vic thought that Pat should put these into production but Pat's a busy guy, so that's why they are available as a plan rather than a finished project. VTW is offering this plan so that you too can have a rock-solid solution to handle your spokeshave blades. 

For the price of a half caf, decaf, with a twist of lemon, double sleeve, no cup - you can have all you need to make short work of sharpening your short blades, and support a great fella like Pat!
